Easter Bible Art Project

Easter Bible Art Project

Join us in a 10 day Easter Art Project. This project will have your children reading scripture and creating beautiful art work illustrating a portion of Jesus’ journey to the cross.

First have your child pick a medium. Any will work, a Mod Podge collage, water colors, crayons, markers or colored pencils.

The purpose of the activity is to connect Reading, Faith, Biblical Verse and Art. This multi-sensory activity will enhance your child’s learning experience and help cement scripture into their memory.

Encourage your child to be creative. If your child needs prompting or some ideas give them many ideas to help formulate their own. Be careful not to direct them too closely. This illustration is their version, their art inspired by the gospel. Have supplies on hand and set them in front of your child. Each day use the next bible verse to inspire that morning’s art project. Once the challenge is completed you and your child will have 10 illustrated bible verses.

Before starting the art portion of this challenge take a moment to review, read and discuss the bible verse with your child. If your child is old enough have him read the scripture from his bible. If your child is not reading, read the scripture from the bible. Be sure to ask your child if they have any questions. You can work this into a bible study and give your child any background information needed to explain.

Next explain to your child that you would like them to create an image that reflects the specific daily verse.

Each day review the bible verses learned and illustrated previously and answer any questions asked.

After your child has finished their art project help spread the word of salvation by posting your child’s work on your social media, sending pictures to friends and family and displaying the illustrated bible verses in your home.

You can also follow along and share with others participating by posting art work on Instagram with the hashtag #HappilyHomeschoolinginIowa (Find the Hashtage Here) or in the Facebook Group Iowa Homeschoolers (Find the Group Here).

Matthew 21: 19-20

Seeing a fig tree by the road, he went up to it but found nothing on it except leaves. Then he said to it, “May you never bear fruit again!” Immediately the tree withered. When the disciples saw this, they were amazed.

Day 2
Matthew 21:21-22

“How did the fig tree wither so quickly? They asked. Jesus replied,
“Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, “go throw, yourself into the sea, and it will be done. If you believe you will receive whatever you asked for in prayer.”

Day 3
John 2: 15-19

So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both the sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house into a market!” His disciples remembered that it is written: ” Zeal for your house will consume me.”
The Jews then responded to him, “What sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”
Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple. and I will raise it again in three days.”

John 12:12-1
5
The next day the large crowd that had come to the feast heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem. So they took branches of palm trees and went out to meet him, crying out, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, Blessed the King of Israel.” Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion: see your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.

Day 5
Luke 22: 14-20

When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table. And he said to them “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer. For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God. ” After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, “Take this and divide it among you. For I tell you I will not drink again from the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes.” And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and give it to them, saying, “This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.

Day 6
Matthew 27:35-37

When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots. And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is Jesus, the king of the Jews.

From Noon Until three in the afternoon darkness came over the land.

Day 8
Luke 24: 2-5

And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments. And they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, thy said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

Day 9:
Luke 24:6-7

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee: ‘The Son of Man must be delivered over to the hands of sinners, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.’

Day 10
Titus 2:11-12

For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age.
