Around the House

Decorating for Fall

Fall has arrived in Iowa. It has been a bit different this year. It seems that the summer heat and humidity hung around a little longer than usual. However, here we are the second day of the official fall season and the air is cool and crisp. There are two places in my home that I re-decorate seasonally. I like to add a little hint of the season to the kitchen and the front porch.

These touches of fall will stay out until I switch them up for Christmas.

FALL KITCHEN

My dear friend made my table runner for me about 10 years ago. I love all the rich fall colors. If this is a bit bold for your taste check out this light embroidered table runner on amazon.

I have a bit of a wooden bowl obsession. Wood bowls are my little treasure and I am always on the hunt. I pick them up where ever I find them. I have found them to be pretty expensive lately. Who knew I was such a trend setter. I have found my best bowls at thrifts stores and yards sales. I found a similar bowl on Amazon. This particular one looks shallow enough to fill with a reasonable amount of pine cones, gourdes or mini pumpkins. When looking for any bowl to use as a center piece keep in mind the deeper the bowl the more it will take to fill it.

Fall Front Porch

I want my front porch to be welcoming to any visitors. Your front porch is your home’s first impression to visitors and family alike.

I hope you enjoy decorating for fall this season. Feel free to share any ideas in the comment section below.
