Our Gratitude Tree

A few years ago I set out to make a Jesse Tree to celebrate Advent. I had only learned about the Jess Tree tradition the year before and we set out early to complete our tree in time for the advent season.

My son painted a beautiful tree. I absolutely loved and and considered leaving it out all year round. I had planned on attaching little cup hooks to hang our ornaments.

Since it was nearing November we decided to first make it our gratitude tree.

You can read more about our Jesse Tree project here.

The tree sits in our living room from November 1st to Thanksgiving Day. Each day we write a blessing bestowed upon us by the Lord on a cut out leaf. Since it is fall we use fall colors of construction paper.

At our Thanksgiving table we have a basket filled with all of the leaves we have written our blessings on. After our dinner prayer we read the blessings our family has added to the tree.
